Adjustable hoop setting gauge with brass inserts to prevent wear. The width of the gauge can be adjusted by rotating a thumb screw until the largest ball just fits between the jaws of the gauge. The width is then locked tight with another thumb screw. The tapered section of the gauge can then be used to measure the width between the hoop uprights using the orange cube placed on the ground between the the uprights to hold the gauge at the correct height. When the gauge just touches both uprights, the difference between the hoop width and the largest ball diameter can then be read off from the scale. It can then be seen easily, how much the hoop will need to be adjusted. It saves having to continually use the largest ball, rotate it to find the largest diameter and then use a feeler gauge to measure the gap.
